At Berkeley Motor Works we perform all levels of service from routine oil changes and factory oil services, to major overhauls and mechanical restorations. No job is too big or too small for us. We also diagnose and repair fuel injection systems, perform electrical diagnoses, and rebuild engines, transmissions, driveshafts, and differentials. We service and repair air conditioning systems as well. We perform regular BMW maintenance consisting of minor tune-ups, major services/inspections, brakes, suspension, and cooling systems which are the mainstay of our business. To phrase it simply, "We do everything mechanical that your BMW could ever need."

I have been going to Mike for over 10 years. I cannot say enough good things. He is a small independent company but treats you like you're his only client. I really feel good about recommending him - he's just a good guy to have in your corner. – Doug Logan, Client |

Forget the fact that this is the best BMW repair shop in the bay area, I want to let everyone know about Paula the service advisor. She is a breath of fresh air. Coming all the way from Sydney Australia, she knows more about BMW cars past and present than ANY other service writer, advisor or manager that I have dealt with. Truly a genuine blonde hottie with that Aussie accent. Paula ....you had me at hello!

I would definitely recommend Mike and his shop. He really knows BMWs and is honest and straight forward. He WILL tell you if something needs to be repaired-you may not want to hear this but you also don't want to be stranded some Sunday night. He will also tell you if the repair is something that can wait. He can keep your car feeling new as it ages. And, he'll give you a ride when you drop off your car and accommodate to any schedule restrictions you may have. And, even his service writer, Paula, is a joy. She knows and cares about BMW's and treats customers with respect.
If you want good, honest service, Berkeley Motor Works is a good choice.

My BMW didn't pass smog. I took it to two BMW dealerships to find out why. After a week of this, neither dealership could tell me why the car was not passing smog--they wanted to do more tests. I took the car to Berkeley Motor Works. Three hours later, they called me to come and get the car--it had passed smog. I was charged half the rate as the dealerships, and had a pleasant time everyone.

I'm an owner of a 2006 BMW xi and before finding out about Berkeley Works, all my service work was done at Concord BMW until svc warranty expired, and like the previous reviewer I was tired of there prices and rude attitudes. So I decided to google some shops in the bay area that specialized in BMW's and found Berkeley Work. I took my car for an oil change on first visit, it was a good experience, staff was super nice and I didn't have to spend a lot of time.

I have taken my car to Berkeley Motor Works for the past couple of years. MIke and his staff have always given me very good service, and have made sure that I was told exactly what was in need of repair. In fact, in a few instances I was told that certain items that needed repair could wait awhile. I was happy to hear that I could defer a few less pressing repairs needed. And, during these hard times it is refreshing to do business with a shop and and an owner who truly care,, are understanding of circumstances we a facing in this down economy, and who haved proven time and time again with my car how to keep my car running while not busting the bank! Thanks Mike for all that you do and your commitment to take care of your valued customers! It truly sets you apart from the pack. Rest assured, I'll be coming back for a long time to come.

I have been taking my 1993 BMW 740i to Berkeley Motor Works for several years, ever since Mike and co. were able to repair a major transmission problem. Mike and his staff has a passion for working on BMW's. Their customer service is first rate and they are very prompt about contacting you on necessary repairs and necessary maintenance.

I have been having my two BMW cars serviced at Berkeley Motor Works for over 15 years,a 1974 2002 Tii and a 1999 M3 Coupe. Both cars have been maintained by this shop only and I have been very happy with the service.A very clean and honest business.I know that owning a BMW could be very expensive, but it could be even more costly with bad service. You get what you pay for and at this shop they stand behind there work.
I have come to be like family at the shop and have told all BMW drivers about the shop at any chance that I get.I hope that this business is able to stay in business understanding these hard times for business owners.
God Bless

I have a 2002 BMW 325i which i was recently having serviced at Weatherford BMW under warranty. I was tired of their prices and their attitude. I have switched back to Berkeley Motor Works where i have been a client for over 15 years. Mike once rebuilt an engine in my 1974 BMW 2002. It ran great for another 6 years and I never considered another mechanic for that car while in the Bay Area. Although i moved out of town, i am now proud to put my trust in them once again with my newer Bimmer. They do excellent work at fair market prices.

I was referred to Mike in 1992 (I think) when I was trying to save a 2002 I had been conned into buying. Mike was honest enough to tell me the car wasn't worth my putting any more money into it, and then helped me to get a '79 528i which I drove all over the U.S. for the next 12 years. Mike and the folks at Berkeley Motor Works did every service and oil change except one in that time (when he referred me to a shop in Austin,TX that was another good experience).
Every transaction with the shop was positive, and even enjoyable! I learned to depend completely on the advice and service from Berkeley Motor Works, and even looked forward to taking my car in for service. Mike made it possible for somebody who didn't know much about cars to really enjoy having a great old BMW without having to spend a lot.
Thanks for everything!
