Mark got his start in 1998 working as a diesel technician. Seeking to broaden his technical skills he attended Universal Technical Institute. He then enrolled in the BMW STEP program. After graduation he worked for Sterling BMW in Newport Beach, California and earned his title as Master Technician.

In June of 2006 Mark also started working for Steve Millen Motorsports where he was a technician as well as a fabricator. They completely disassembled and race-prepped a 2005 Ford GT and 2009 Nissan GTR. He traveled with the Stillen crew as a rally technician for the 2006, 2008, 2010 and 2011 Targa New Zealand Race and the 2009 Targa New Foundland race.

After 7 years with BMW, Mark wished to expand his knowledge of exotic cars and went to work for Ferrari & Maserati of Orange County.

With great pride and confidence in his work, and the realization that working on cars is not just a hobby or job, but his life's passion, Mark decided to open Mark Douglas Motorworks in Mission Viejo, California.

I did a lot of research on line and over the phone. I talked to Mark on the phone and looked no further. It was obvious that this wasn't going to be another expensive fishing expedition. Having taken my car to two other shops four times in two years with less than favorable outcomes regarding leaks, I was very hopeful. His training, passion and experience have made him a master at his profession. His knowledge is so extensive. He went out of his way helping me obtain a rental car and stayed later than normal hours. My biggest problem had been quoted by several others to cost two to three times what he did the same work for. In addition he did it in one day, not two or three. He knew all about the infamous "no reverse" problem on BMW's 1999-2005 three series. I couldn't have been more pleased having all my many leaks repaired, transmission fixed and many other time consuming problems in just two days. He even arranged two new tires and chrome wheel work done for me at the same time. As I said to Mark, I intend to keep this car many more years . . . I hope he doesn't retire before my car does!! I would highly recommend Mark Douglas to anyone. I would drive 50 miles if need be to have him work on my car. You just know when you can trust someone to do the job right.

This was my first trip to Mark Douglas Motorworks and I have been very happy with the experience. I recently purchased a project car (E36 M3) and suddenly notice a lot of "clonking" noise from the rear. After a week of looking over the car, I finally figured out it was the rear strut mount tower causing the noise and much to my dismay, it was cracked. After some calling around to shops in Mission Viejo, Irvine, Costa Mesa, I decided to try Mark's shop for the job based on our initiate phone conversation that put me at ease. The work provided was certainly no different at all. In three days, my car was repaired and ready to be picked up. Mark kept me in the loop throughout the process. Personally coming from a service industry background for my work, the way Mark set the expectations with me and delivered on those agreements was text book service. I would recommend Mark to anyone in the area and/or surrounding cities.

I've been going to Mark for years with all my different vehicles for everything from standard services to Installing my lowering kit. I really appreciate and value the fact that he is upfront and honest with what needs to be done to my car and gets it done when he tells me it will be done.
