Munich Motorworks doesn't just do BMWs. I brought my '97 Mercedes C230 for service. As with any German car, anytime the check engine light comes on, it gives me anxiety on how much this servicing will cost. Is it going to be a 3 digit or 4 digit cost? I'm new to the area and passed by Munich Motorworks' new location. Joseph and Steven worked with my busy schedule to drop off and pick up. My car was completed when they said it would be, all for just a hair over a hundred bucks!! I've never brought my Benz anywhere and left without feeling ripped off. They are awesome!! I'm going there for everything from now on.

I was very unhappy with the service I received. My car sat untouched for 7 days while Joseph told me stories about wrong parts and work that was not done. I finally picked up my car still in pieces and had to finish the job myself. I was overcharged $350 from what I was told it would cost. I had to redo the repairs 3 mos later to get it fixed properly due to the work not being performed right the first time. All in all paid $900 for a thermostat(had to replace again) and a fan clutch that was not needed. I was also quoted $4000 in additional repairs I was told my car needed. Those repairs at the shop I use now totaled less than $200.00. The major oil leak Joseph said I had was a loose filter screw in the Vanos unit. Just my experience with Munich Motorworks. So be careful and get everything in writing. I learned my lesson so hopefully you don't have to.

i am having good experiences at Munich motorworks.
shop is neat and clean, owner and techs are available to discuss your car (uncommon at many shops).
they dont oversell or scare you to do things not needed.
also i get the feeling when off work they are still thinking BMW's as it seems to be a passion not just a profession for this group

I had Joseph Gilmore and Munich Motorworks do some work that they quoted me for. Scheduled to be a 1/2 day job. On the 2nd day without any word, I called to get no answer, so I dropped by. Car was sitting torn apart, and Joseph was nowhere to be found. I came back later to see my car being worked on without proper tools, but simple brute force. 2 years later I found out that brute force bent 2 several hundred dollar brand new parts that THEY installed. When I went to pay for the work, I was told to "please bring cash." In the following year, I came to find out why. I was to purchase some items from Munich (Joseph). I put down a hefty deposit, and was awaiting some form of documentation that the car wasnt stolen (cash only, again). After Joseph called and made several threatening phone calls about getting the rest of his money, I reminded him of what I was waiting for, legal ownership. Another month went by, found the car was cut up and parted out by another shop and Joseph was MIA. After 6 months of certified letters and summons', finally got it to a judge. At which point Joseph didnt even show. Judgement in my favor, so I thought. Come to find out a couple months later, that Joseph was waiting to file bankruptcy, and was just trying to get this wrapped up with it.
Pure and simple, Joseph @ Munich Motorworks is NOT a mechanic, is NOT a trustworthy businessman, and is NOT a place where you can trust your car, or your money.

It's amazing what people will say when disguised by an Internet pseudonym. "Mr Bavarian" is the only unhappy customer I've had in 6 years, a guy named Kurt W. His post is a hilarious pile of lies. I have never worked on a car of his, and certainly never demanded cash.
He put down a deposit for some used parts and after months of badgering him to come and pick up the parts and pay the rest of the agreed upon price, he demanded his deposit back. Dozens of unreturned phone calls had made me more than a little impatient and I refused because of my opportunity cost. That's what a deposit is for, right? He got bent, I can understand why, but if he had handled the situation differently - read: been responsible and held up his end of a deal that he made - then we would be in a different place now.
He sued me spuriously, I didn't care about his case and prioritized my family when I should have focused on his idiotic small claims case and he "won" because I wouldn't give it enough attention.
I have never filed bankruptcy, I have no idea where that came from - must have been the same hallucination in which I worked on his car.
Come in and see me, I would be glad to show you how I do business and the kind of work I do.
I stand behind my parts and repairs 100% and can provide nearly endless professional references.
I must be a terrible businessman - I'm expanding and growing my shop in this economy! Come and see us at our NEW LOCATION at SE 39th and Holgate!!

03/09/10 - Awesome experience!! Being a reluctant female looking for a good BMW mechanic but fearing being taken advantage of, I spent a great deal of time searching the Internet for a quality mechanic. Munich Motorworks came up with rave reviews. Joseph Gilmore, the owner, had my car up on the rack within moments and going over with me what was needed. He cares about your car as if it's his. For the Bimmer girls out there looking for quality and fair pricing, go here. For any person looking for quality and fair pricing go here! My car is running so nicely today. We've got a maintenance plan going - Munich Motorworks will be my mechanic for the life of my car!
