BMW i3 Concept Coupe

BMW has now joined the “green” automobile ranks of several other automakers by recently launching its first ever mass production electronic vehicle, the i3.
The i3 is capable of traveling 80 to 100 miles on a single charge, and a smaller gas engine option can extend the vehicle’s range up to 160+ miles.
The compact, city vehicle stays true to the BMW brand with performance and BMW-like driving capabilities. It also offers roadside assistance and a navigation system to show nearby charging stations.

- 22-kilowatt, 450-pound lithium-ion power train
- 170 horsepower electric motor (equipped with 2 cylinder rear engine and 34 horsepower, to double the range)
- 184 pound-feet of torque
- 0 to 60 mph in 7 seconds.
- Made entirely from carbon fiber (which rivals the competition)
- Aluminum chassis
- Coach-style doors
- Dash wood-trim constructed from “responsibly” forested eucalyptus
- Recharged in 3 hours with 220 volt charger
The i3 is set to hit the U.S. in Spring 2014, with a price tag around $41,350 to $45,200 depending on the model.
