Shell was recently named as the global recommended oil supplier for BMW service-fills, replacing Castrol, who has been with the brand since 1999.
Starting this year, 140 countries will now be supplied with Shell’s latest technology for BMW aftermarket oils. These BMW brands include BMW, BMW i, BMW M, MINI and BMW Motorrad.
Shell’s new lubricants are formulated with PurePlus Technology, which converts natural gas into a crystal clear base oil, called a gas to liquid process.
This has been 40 years of research in the making.
So will current BMW owners have to change the type of oil they currently use in their vehicles? Possibly, but there is no answer for that question as of now. Right now, however, it’s recommended to stick with what you’ve been using until future notice.
*Also note that in some markets Shell Pure Plus is referred to as Pennzoil Pure Plus.
