"He gets his information from a forum just like anyone else can."
(this shop never uses public forums. I have a large technical library for just BMWs. The forums used here are for reference and statistical prevalence of unusual problems, are not public, charge fees
for access, and are for mechanics and shop owners only.)
"And really $200 later all I got was an oil change."
(Only an oil change Mike? Really? Did you forget I installed two brake wear sensors, diagnosed what was causing the light to not go out,
scanned, recorded, and cleared codes from over 30 computers on your vehicle, attempted to recode the brake module and installed the missing jack pad? All of which is listed on the invoice
you received at the time of service. Lying in a review and about the dedication to my customers is telling us a lot about what kind of a person you are Mike.)
"He charge me for things he said he would not.
For a mere $15 that he over charged me he will never see me nor my car ever again and I will never refer him. We all work to make money I understand that but, don't rip people off."
(Mike is referring to the $15 I charged for a jack pad missing from his under his vehicle that is needed for lifting his vehicle safely and without doing damage to the underbody. Being that I am responsible for safely raising your vehicle, I do not think it
is too much to ask that an inexpensive part needed to do my job properly be installed on your vehicle. )
"He was going to charge me $180 for software up grade because it takes two hours to download. A flat fee should be charged here."
(I connected his vehicle twice to the BMW computer, diagnosed the reason for the brake wear light not going out as a software issue that needed to be rectified. I attempted to recode the brake
computer, but the vehicle required a full software update. I showed him the printout that that stated this. This is not a download Mike, the programming/coding process takes 2 hours, or 118 minutes as
reported by the programming computer. I'm sorry you do not understand how the process works, but implying that I was simply charging a random amount shows how little you know about me, my shop, and how much its costs to even be able to provide this service on a 2007 BMW. Please tell me where you would get this done for less than what I charge because at the dealer it would have been over $300)
"His shop is in one of the worst parts of the city and can only fit a few cars as all it is is a bay. No waiting area."
(Bavarian Automotive is across the street from Fields BMW, protected by cameras, and full time security. The BMW dealership has a beautiful waiting room with TV, ice cream, and plenty of space.)
"He takes for ever and charges way too much."
(I spent four hours speaking with Mike and working on his BMW. Of course it felt like it took a long time because he did not want to leave his vehicle and insisted on waiting, which is fine. However Mike, this is not Dominos Pizza, 30 minutes or less, if speed is more important than accuracy, then I am sure you can find a shop that will accommodate you. I will always take the time I feel I need to do
my job properly, no exceptions.)
