    Owner

Founded by Tim Thatcher, Euro Autowerks began as an independent Porsche specialist located in Kentwood, Michigan. An avowed Porsche enthusiast, Tim owned a 356 by the time he was 18 years old. Tim apprenticed and worked at various local import dealerships before launching Euro Autowerks in 1984, committed to providing quality service at a reasonable price.

Soon after the shop opened there began a growing demand for Euro Autowerks to service additional brands. With the same level of care and attention to detail afforded to Porsches, Tim and his team began providing similar services to the owners of other marques such as Audi, BMW and Mercedes.

In 2000 Euro Autowerks moved to its current location, just north of Grand Rapids and just west of the Grattan Raceway. Tim is ASE master certified and a long term PCA member.

I experienced power steering problems. Took my car and they did an excellent job. They also charged me about $800 less than what the original estimate was. I was very pleased with their work and happy to have found them.

I do not recommend Euro Auto Works. I brought my 2003 Z4 BMW for what it turned out to be a simple job; install a new regulator in driver side window. The window did not need a new regulator after all; it was just a loose screw. Euro Auto Works completed this job, saved me money because the problem was a loose screw and they fixed it. I was so happy that I brought them a box of donuts when I went to pick up the car. I paid in full without looking at the invoice, and drove away. THAT WAS A MISTAKE. I should have checked the invoice for this statement "SRS Light-Internal Unit Fault"...because as I'm driving home I see the "air bag" light is on. I did not have time to go back to their shop that same day...instead I called them twice about the "air bag" message to alert them that this "air bag" message was caused when they worked on the driver window (I know that light was not on when I brought the car in). They never called me back to take care of it although I was told "let me check with the technician" and get back to you. After my second call waited two weeks and Euro Auto Works did not call me back.

I called them a third time about the "air bag" message and to tell them that it was caused when they worked on the window; I needed this fixed knowing that the light was not on when I brought the car in. During the third call to Euro Auto Works I'm told that they talked to their technician; I don't know why they didn't call me back to give me an answer, very irritating. To end the call and get rid of me this is what I was told "you brought the car in with the air bag message already on and our technician is NOT authorized by BMW to reset air bag messages, you must take the car to a BMW dealer to have it fixed." It took three calls for them to tell me this? Bottom line, poor customer service and an incompetent (dishonest?) technician. If you claim to work on BMWs you should be able to reset the air bag message or at least be honest about causing the problem.

I do NOT recommend Euro Auto Works.
