One day, my car started having a slight burning smell. I knew it was oil burning, but I wasn't sure where it was coming from. After a couple months, the burning smell got worse and I began noticing smoke coming from my engine. Since this is my first BMW, I wanted an expert to properly inspect and diagnose the source of the leak. Luckily, my brother referred me to Alex and his business A&L German Motorwerks. In short notice, I was able to take my car to Alex for inspection.
I went out of town for the weekend but Alex was very communicative and sent me pictures of the issues he identified. I had a valve cover gasket leak, oil pan gasket leak, worn out motor mounts, oil filter housing gasket leak, and a small leak in my coolant expansion tank. Just my luck right? Since he identified a lot of issues, Alex gave me a call to discuss and recommend what would require attention right away and what could wait. Since the oil filter housing gasket and the coolant expansion tank are at the top of the engine, I figured I would be able to replace those myself. So I asked Alex to replace the valve cover gasket, the oil pan gasket, and the motor mounts since those were the harder parts to get to.
Before working on my car, Alex sent me a thorough breakdown of what he would be replacing along with the cost of the parts and the labor. He graciously offered to remove the cost of the labor for the motor mounts since he would already be working on the oil pan and it was only a few extra bolts to get to the mounts. Throughout the process, Alex sent me progress pictures of the new valve cover gasket and the clean oil pan before he put it on. After he had finished working on my car, he gave my engine a wash to make it look nice and new, which I felt like was a nice touch.
When Alex let me know that my car was ready for pick up, I was easily able to make payment online through an electronic invoice. When I came to pick up my car, Alex gave me a thorough explanation of what he did and the warranties that come with the parts he replaced for me. I couldn't thank Alex enough since he got my car running like new and no longer had any smoke coming from my engine.
If you have any issues with your BMW, I highly recommend going to Alex for all your needs. He is very friendly and easy to talk to, walks you through everything, and gives you updates on his progress so you know what is going on every step of the way. He has great service and gave me a great deal to make sure my car continues running reliably. Safe to say I've found my new car mechanic that I can rely on for any issues I have in the future.
