Based on the comments here I called Larry and discussed my car's issue. He suggested I bring the car in (after hie normal hours because of my work hours and commute) and we'd take a look. He suggested I bring the car back and he'd have his mechanics take a much closer look and let me know what the issue(s) were (I had several oil leaks). As arranged, he checked out my car and provided me with details on what was wrong and what he would charge for both parts and labor, making me a deal. While I decided not to repair the car and offered to pay for the diagnostic service, he refused, saying he said no charge, and he stuck with no charge. While I can't speak of repairs made at his shop, I can attest to his fairness, honesty, and personal service. If you have a problem, give him a call first.

I just took my car in for an oil change and Larry's shop was the first of many that by default uses BMW parts and oil. As a bonus, Larry is a fantastic guy to meet. He's extremely friendly and honest. My car is soon going out of warranty and I'll be taking my car to Larry for my future automotive needs.

I have a 2006 325I that has had some issues almost from the moment I bought it. Mainly electrical (as is common with BMW). Larry (and his excellent team) made it his personal mission to find my very elusive problem. It took a lot of reasearch on Larry's part to locate the issue. It turned out that it was a tiny compromised electrical cable that finding was like looking for a needle in a haystack. Larry managed to find it and worked clolsely with my warranty company to make sure that my expense was kept to a bare minimum.

In my book, the most important factor when choosing a mechanic is honesty and integritry....I can confidently say that Larry's shop has both of these qualities. I have found my permanent BMW mechanic.

Dr. Larry is simply the best. My 2000 528i was 8 years old and had over 140,000 miles when I bought her. She developed some challenges almost immediately. Thank goodness I found Dr. Larry. He diagnosed the issues, discussed the problems in terms I could understand and came up with a workable plan. My car is fabulous. I would never take her to anyone else. Thank you Larry.

I learned about Larry's Automotive Services via internet almost two years ago after I got fed up taking my '00 740IL to Encinitas, Ocenaside and Escondido BMW services for three years. When I called Larry first time to bring car for brake job, he told me to get discount coupon from Craig's list. I could not beleive it that mechanic wants to save me money. That how I feel every time I go to Larry. Every time I take my car for service, Larry takes good care of it and always calls me explaning what the problem is, how much it will cost and what options I have. Every job I had done on my car at Larry's was done very professionally, in timely manner and with fair price. Thanks to Larry I can afford to drive used BMW!

Don't look around, take your BMW to Larry!

I finally bought my dream car...a 2004 BMW 325i...for a used car every mechanic in town tried to convince me that i bought a headache! Repaired her twice within a month at two different shops for the same problem after my coolant light came on...I hated the fact that every time a mechanic would look at my car they just gave me that look of disappointment...I proved that they just don't speak BMW after I called Larry for advice & i couldn't believe how personnable & knowledgeable Larry was over the phone...i drove 40 miles out of town with the fear of my car over heating & it was worth it! Yes my car is high maintainance... but she is just like her owner and i only trust Larry to pamper her! I was greeted with a smile & the willingness to help...I can't believe that I am bragging about my mechanic... i liked hanging out at the shop while getting my first oil change last week... Larry, if you ever read your own reviews... i just want to let you know... I love my car even more because you gave me the peace of mind that no other mechanic could ever give me! The reviews posted above are all true :)

My husband and I have used several mechanics to service our 525i and 325i around the Encinitas/Carlsbad area. We moved back to CA from Hawaii where we had a great independent service person taking care of our beemers. We went online searching to find another comparable mechanic and we read rave reviews about Larry. We have been going to Larry for almost 2 years now and no one can compete with his reasonable rates, timely service and prompt diagnosis of the problem. Larry is very knowledgeable, honest and straightforward. We thoroughly trust his expertise and would highly recommend him for any repairs you need on your BMW’s. Being retired, it’s also a bonus that he offers specials on Craig’s List. Larry is the best!

I've seen over half a dozen mechanics over many years and FINALLY, I can end my search with Larry. What a great feeling! I've been looking for an experiencd, honest, fair, & customer-oriented mechanic not trying to take me for an arm and a leg, even with my obvious lack of repair knowledge. I found that and more at Larry's Automotive Services.

To say he gave me a deal is a huge understatement! Larry towed my car, gave me a free and complete diagnostics inspection, explained my BMW's maintenance issues with possible remedies, and talked figures only when I asked. Not once did I feel pressured to purchase anything or even utilize his services for repairs. It is because of all this that my BMW will become a lifelong patient of his and I am a lifelong customer and referrer. I'll say it again, this shop is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Larry knows BMWs. He has over 40 years experience. Larry knows great customer service and satisfaction. He took his time discussing options with me, returned all of my phone calls, and never tried to upsell me on anything. Just read the other reviews. They all agree.

(I will never see another Doc again)

The dealer told me that the coolent system on my '06 530i was developing a leak and that the repair would cost over $800. I took the car to Larry who found a simple leaking temperature sensor to be the problem and less than $100 later he had me on my way. Larry is knowlegible and honest - I don't plan to be taking my BMW anywhere else.

I've owned several BMW's over the years which have all been serviced by Larry. Larry's Automotive exemplifies excellence and care in dealing with the customer and most importantly our BMW. It is so difficult to find an honest mechanic that is fair and cordial; customer oriented and maintains reasonable repair fees.

Larry takes his time explaining the issues involving the repairs and proposes a plan of action. He understands each individual’s budget and hectic schedule and attempts to accommodate his clients to the best of his ability.

I will definitely continue having my BMW’s serviced by Larry’s Automotive and highly recommend his mechanic shop to anyone who owns the “Ultimate Driving Machine”.

I've had all of my BMW work done by Larry and I continually recommend his BMW service business to people I meet who are in need of a reputable mechanic.

I've been bringing my cars to Larry for over 6 years now and I've always been given great service, honest assessments of the repairs I needed and value for my dollar. There are countless shops one can take their car to but I won't go anywhere else. If you're looking for a great shop, great service and a knowledgeable staff then having your BMW serviced by Larry is your only option. You won't be disappointed!

My M3 has never been treated better! Thanks Larry, Paul and staff.

Alert to all Benz owners too !!

I was referred to Larry's by a friend for my E-320...let me tell you that he spotted a problem that was under warranty...rather than try to sell me anything..he made the call to the Dealer to confirm the coverage..and send me on my way..saved me $1,600 +...since then he takes care of my car like it was his own.

I know this is a BMW based site..but listen..when you find an honest and extremely qualified have to share him with the rest of us!!

Thanks Larry...for all the good work on my car.

Dr. Larry is the finest surgeon to EVER work on all the BMW's in my family.

I was referred to Larry 5 years ago and from the moment I met him I knew I was in good hands. His passion for his work is unmatched. Besides being the best mechanic I've ever met, Larry has phenomenal people skills and is hands on with all of his customers. He'll always treat you like family and that is a comfort level most people never feel when they drop their car off for service.

Let's face it, most people have had negative experiences when dealing with mechanics or car dealers. People trust them to do a good job and not take advantage of them, because they never have any idea of servicing a car. Larry is honest, upfront and will tell it like it is. He is a man of integrity. The money I have saved over the years having Larry work on my cars is huge. His prices are reasonable and he won't overcharge you for parts but rather save you money by buying them at a discount.

I love BMW's. I have for a long time. There is simply nothing else that drives like a Beemer. My only fear is that someday Larry might actually retire (he's too young now). Larry always answers the phone when I call and is always pleasant. I've made a good friend over the years....someone who I trust. I've referred many people to Larry and they have been very happy. This man knows his cars, knows how to run a business and is caring about his customers. What more could you ask for?

I've been going to Larry's for a couple of years. He was recommended to me by a friend who is himself extremely knowledgable about fixing BMWs. I have since introduced several of my friends to Larry. He knows BMWs and is extremely honest and fair ... and yes, he is very skilled at diagnosing and fixing my 740iL. Larry offers me choices on how to address a problem and delivers on his commitments.

I couldn't agree more with the other comments posted here. I found Larry when a friend recommended him. My car had just gone off of service contract and I wasn't sure if I would keep it. Larry gave me honest and reliable feedback about what I could expect in the coming years so that I could decide if I wanted to keep the car or sell it and buy a new one. He did my repairs right the first time, and as everyone else mentioned, he was great about explaning the issues, both long and short term. He helped me decide which repairs were critical and which were not. He was never pushy. If you are going to keep your car out of contract and don't want to pay for the impersonal, and lacking in personal ownership, service of a large dealer then you should consider Larry.

I've Been to Larry's Automotive twice for two separate issues. The first time he fixed my alignment and a few other problems with the wheels and steering quickly and it was surprisingly inexpensive for the amount of work done. The second time I brought the car in, Larry fixed the whole car, it was a lot of work and the price for the work done was very fair and was in and out of the shop fast. Larry was great with returning my calls and answering all my questions. Larry's Automotive never tried to sell me any service I didn't need. I always take my car here because I know it's in great hands. Larry's is the place to go if you want good dependable work done. I highly recommend Larry's Automotive.

You will not find a better shop. Larry provides excellent service with great rates.

I was recommended by a friend to Larry's shop, so I took my 02 540i to Larry to take care of an AC issue.

He quickly fixed that and we took a look together over the rest of the car, all the while he explained and pointed out everything he saw along the way. Notice I said together - he will not try to pull one over on you. I liked him so much that I took the car back the next week for the rest of the work without hesitation.

    Larry is honest and accurate.

No one else will work on my car and I would recommend him to anyone and everyone.

I purchased an older E32 and was referred to Larry from a friend. I met with Larry and he gave my car a thorough inspection. He ask me how long I planned to keep the car and discussed the repair options with me. He did not try to over sell me on repairs that were not immediately necessary. I scheduled the work that needed to be done and was offered a loaner car. I was pleasantly surprised at the estimate for the repairs and would highly recommend Larry to anyone tired of paying outrageous dealarship prices. The work performed was top notch.

Larry and Paul have made sure every time my 01 740i has an issue, it is fixed with speed and reliability. Their work is done right the first time; which is something I can't say about the local BMW dealers. They are friendly, courteous, easy going, not to mention very knowledgeable. Once I was introduced to them, I have never taken my car any where else, nor will I ever. I have recommended my BMW driving friends to him and each one still goes back to him.

If you want a good deal and quality work, Larry is your man.

Larry's auto shop gave me fantastic service, saved me money, and made me comfortable with keeping my beloved but aging 323ci for a while, instead of dumping it immediately. The car's now purring, and so am I.

Before calling Larry's, I paid $300 in diagnostic fees to an Encinitas shop that quoted $3300 - $4300 to get back on the road. Some friends advised this was a little steep, and an owner of a similar old beemer recommended Larry's, so I gave them a call.

Larry's towed my car from the other shop and evaluated it for no charge. Larry explained my options and the costs in detail, and he got my car running nicely for far less than the other guys. Now, I'm happily cruising PCH again and winging up to the OC, instead of haggling with car salesmen....for the moment, anyway. Hope Larry can keep these moments coming. Based on what I've seen and heard, I'm confident that he can.

    Thanks, Larry!

I was "rescued" from dealer service/maintenance by a friend at church when I told him of a dealer repair estimate "at least $2,300 ...we'll know more when we get inside...".

Fortunately, I stopped in to see Larry, he put the magic scope on my 740 and gave me a firm estimate later that day of $750-$775. His work was impeccable and has been so for the past 4 years one else will be touching my car!

Routine maintenance, major repairs, strategic planning...Larry does it all with care, focus and accuracy. I give Larry my highest recommendation.

Larry's Automotive is a great place to take your BMW for service. In fact, it might be the only place if you're trying to find the most experienced and most thoroughly equipped BMW shop in SoCal. Larry knows BMWs. And you won't have to pay dealer prices. These are the two things you should have in mind when looking for a BMW shop: Skill and fairness. Larry's got both.

I've had maintenance done there as well as a major transmission replacement job. And quite a bit in between.

If you need someone to care for your BMW, Larry's Automotive is where you should go.
