I took my car to Matt at Bosch because I had a dashboard light showing my adaptive headlights had failed. He pointed out that one headlight was also out and asked if that had occurred at the same time. It had and I told him so. He said replacing the light would solve the problem and quoted approx $300, which I agreed to. The next day, he stated that it turned out a ballast needed to be replaced instead and the total would go up about $100, to which I agreed. Yesterday, he informed me that the car was ready and that the charge was more than $200 higher than the original estimate, and I reluctantly accepted this. Today I showed up, and he informed me that the original problem still exists (but only after I asked him directly), and refused to release my car to me unless I paid him for the work he did, despite the fact that he did not fix the one problem I brought the car to him for. I offered to have him remove the parts he had installed and return my car to me in its original condition, and he refused, stating he would put a lien on the car and park it outside so it would get parking tickets.
