When my son's BMW had a drive train issue I needed True Automotive's help to get his car back on the road. The reviews I read before hand were excellent and the experience we had exceeded our expectations.

Joel excels in the art of customer service. He is prompt, informative, courteous, sympathetic and works with the customer to find creative solutions when the goal is to save money on repairs. Everyone else I interacted with (Sam and Louis) were also polite and professional. Together as a team they work to truly earn your business.

I really enjoyed the experience and will definitely rely on their expertise and attention to detail next time the need arises. They have many beautiful BMW cars out front and you can tell they are enthusiasts of German cars.

I used to come to this place and recommend them but will be trying another shop after a misdiagnosis and poor oil change job. Came in for a oil change, dropped my car off as i do not live in the area, picked it up to be told that my head gasket was leaking (BMW work that's under warranty) went to get a diagnosis from BMW to find that I have no leak. Secondly, they didn't properly put a crush washer on my oil pan, which caused me to leak oil over the weekend. I bring my car back in on Monday for them to fix their mess and talk to them about the misdiagnosis. I get told that they had to redo my oil change and it will be free of charge (I damn sure hope so, your mistake) and I brought up the misdiagnosis to find that its just dried oil from a oil change pressure test. I asked for a free oil change for my hassle and Sam tried to give me a coupon that can be found their website. Manager (Jenny) didn't even respond to my email. Beware, This place is not what it used to be.

    Hey Erik,

I am very sorry to hear about this. Communication is definitely key to any successful relationship, and I would love to help make this right for you. A free oil change would definitely have been reasonable given the issue you described above. I hope you will still give us the opportunity to make this right with you. We do not want anyone unhappy out there. If you are not happy, then we are not happy. Thank you for the honest feedback and let me know how we can help do good business and make sure you are 100% whole. Thank you again, Rob Eskew

The guys at Markert Motorworks are truly top notch! Not only do they perform every job with excellence and great attention to detail, but they are excellent communicators as well. They truly love what they do, are mechanical GENIUSES, and know how to recommend solutions that are best for each customer's needs. Those are the kinds of guys who will always produce the best results!

I scheduled my 2007 BMW 335i for a valve cover gasket and oil filter gasket change. I had just installed a JB4 days before as well, and found on the drive to the shop my clutch was not strong enough for the extra 80-100 hp (and my car had 135k miles on the original clutch). Rob Eskew laid out all options for me (rather than just trying to sell me the most expensive services). After assessing my driving style, car modifications, and financial situation, he recommended a 335is clutch.

Rob kept me in the loop throughout the whole process, and gave me continuous status updates. The car felt absolutely pristine once the job was done....I didn't realize my drivetrain could even feel so smooth!

Go check out Markert, I promise you won't regret it!

Recently purchased an '07 335i (used to own a '79 320 in the early '80's, but marriage and babies forced me to sell). I thought the twin turbo on the 335i was more than I needed - I'm now glad I got it. Rene and the guys were extremely helpful in ensuring all components of my vehicle were up to MMW standards. The car was in great shape before, but it's now performing extremely well. I'm confident in their recommendations and of their proof of work. Glad I found them and will not use anyone else for my BMW needs. I look forward to taking my 335i to the next level with performance tuning and enhancements.

I can't say enough about both Rob Eskew and Dave Markert, both these guys love their job working on all aspects of BMWs from general maintenance and upgrades to working on full race prepped cars... They are very knowledgeable and go above and beyond 99% of the BMW shops to make sure you are taken care of correctly. When my motor blew on my race car recently at Road Atlanta Rob and the team worked until 2 am that morning to make sure I had a car to drive by 7am the next morning (their back up car) Who does that these days!!!!! They won my business hands down

I had Dave and company do a complete clutch job on my F10 550i. This was a big job, but they beat the dealer cost by $1000 and did work to a much greater level of detail than I would have expected. Not only all the big stuff, but they took the time to replace a lot of little pins & bushings that they know by experience could cause problems in the future. They kept me informed throughout the process, even sending pictures of the damage and repair as it was progressing.

When the local dealer tried to blame some leaking on the main seal, I took it back to Markert, where they stopped what they were doing to clear a lift and take a look. They identified other leaks that the dealer was supposed to have repaired, and gave me some great video ammo to take back and have no problem getting fixed. These guys really went out of their way to make sure I understood what was going on, and what to watch out for. Despite my being a state away, they will do all of my service from here on out.

Markert Motorworks is a great shop to deal with. Since having Dave work his majic in tuning and A set of recommended headers, my car has gained over 45 hp at the wheels and 13 ft lbs of torque. But it's not just about the numbers. Dave has put all the power where it needs to be with his tune and the drivability has increased significantly.

But don't just use them for performance, they do great on preventative maintenance and repairs as well.

If you haven't use these guys, it's time to do so. I've worked on and off with auto shops for 35 years and Markert is one of my top picks.

I have an '08 135i with 78K miles. Brought it in to have inlet valves cleaned of carbon deposits. Markert was referred by another Atlanta shop who did me an amazing favor.

As most car peeps know, rubber stuff in a car dies after 5 years & the Markert guys noticed mine were worn & replaced what needed to be replaced. They also replaced insulated hoses in & around the N54 which would have given me big issues sooner rather than later.

Attention to detail was evident. After the the valve clean was finished a guy test drove my car & noticed the control arms were in serious need of replacement. They'd been replaced a year ago but weren't installed correctly & had failed again. The problem was obvious and I have extended warranty, so Markert fixed that as well.

Needless to say, my 135 drives like the day I bought it, only better.

The Markert team is highly skilled and worth every cent. Did I mention they've got me drooling for a real DIF & a JB4???

The are terrific. My 328i blew a starter and they got me right in even though I didn't have an appointment. They got me out pretty quickly as well. They use quality parts and they do quality work. I get my car back right the first time. But thats only part of the story, they also practice world class customer service. I recieved serveral calls while my car was in updating me on the progress so I was always in the loop. When it was done I had to send my wife to pick it up. They could have handed her the keys and said it's in parking area. What they did was walk her out to the car, make sure it started, told her what they did and asked if everything was up to expectations. So to finish it off, it is a 45 mile trip for me to get to Markert, and there are at least 10 german car repair shops (including 3 BMW dealers) within a 20 mile radius of my house, for me it is worth the trip to get the best service and the best treatment. Peace of mind is a wonderful thing.

The BMW experts at Markert Motorworks recently completed a couple fairly significant repairs on my 2000 528i touring. These included a complete VANOS overhaul, valve cover gasket replacement, and addressing the catastrophic failure of the water pump. Rob and the rest of the crew were always extremely pleasant and helpful, and their knowledge base concerning even older BMWs is vast. They love their work, love BMWs, and share their enthusiasm and knowledge freely. Rob even worked closely with my third party warranty provider that covered some of the repair costs, and fully explained all aspects of the repairs to me. This shop and the staff are the real deal - expert, enthusiastic and friendly professionals who care for you and your car!

Dave and Rob are fantastic. While at the track this past weekend at Road Atlanta, my check engine light came on and an unidentifiable "tick" was coming from my right front. Within minutes Dave had identified the problems, told me he'd bring some parts over from his shop and would get me back out on track. True to his word, I was up and running for my next session. Additionally, Dave identified some other issues that will need to be addressed in the near future. Although I've been tracking BMWs for nearly 15 years, I've yet to come across a shop with as much knowledge and humility as these guys. Although I live in Charleston, SC, I'll be making the 5 hour trip to have Markert Motor Works work on my car.

These guys are amazing! I was worried when I first got my bimmer because as much as I love it, I can't fix everything on it. I can't really trust many shops, and I never have. The guys at Markert are a different story. I have put my full trust in them, because they are the most honest, reasonable group of men. They do their best to give you what you need and at a decent price. I have had so much happen to my car that they have fixed magnificently.Dave and Ian always have so much going on with other cars, but no matter what, they take care of you to the best of their ability, and that is shown by the great quality of work they will do to your car. I have had two coolant issues, battery issues, and break fluid issues. They have been my go-to through it all. Everytime, they are understanding and work with me as best possible. They are good about communicating with you, no matter what they have going on. They will be there for you. I never leave their shop worried about the quality of work they did, and I will continue to put my trust in these guys, for they deserve all of it. I know my car is in good hands and will always be as long as I keep going to them.

These guys are awesome! Super nice and helpful, flexible, they were able to recommend a guy to have my car towed (much cheaper than other towing options) and after they replaced the timing belt, the engine runs better than it ever has before. My car is so close to my heart and I felt very comfortable and happy having these guys take care of it. Also, they have a really sweet shop with lots of really cool car projects going on. They showed me some cars that they've pretty much turned into racecars. Awesome! Anyways, these guys are definitely my go-to from now on, probably forever. Oh! And they fixed my car for much cheaper than another specialist had quoted!

I live in Florida and travel to Atlanta for work. The best recommendation I can give to explain how trustworthy the guys at Markert are is the fact that I drove my car 6 hours from Florida with it running poorly in order for them to work on it. Having AAA I knew if I didn't make it that I would tow it to Markert in order for them to fix it.

Dave, Rob and Ian are my go to guys when anything goes wrong. With 218,000 miles on my car I call them at anytime to ask questions and they are more than willing to help me. Great guys, trustworthy and really hard to find above and beyond customer service. You won't be disappointed.

These guys are AWESOME! I needed a head gasket for my E36 M3 and I decided to use Markert. I had decided to pull the motor and drop it at the shop. I gave them 2 weeks’ notice that I would bring the engine in on a Monday and asked if there was any way possible I could get it back the same week. They happened to have a core head for my engine in the shop at the time and sent that to the machine shop a week in advance. This significantly sped up the operation and I did get the motor back the same week. The guys also did some things I hadn’t expected, they change the oil filter housing gasket, rear main seal and the oil pan gasket just because the motor was out. They also cleaned and painted my block. The work is high quality and the crew is enthusiastic about what they do. But all that said that is not the best thing…………… These guys excel at a dying art; customer service. They have world class customer service. They are sincerely focused on customer satisfaction. Rob called me after I had the motor in to see how I was doing with it. As it turned out I had some problems unrelated to their work, it was missing badly, almost to the point of not running. Rob conferred with their master mechanic Dave Markert and they called me back with some suggestions. With their assistance I was able to determine I had a bad cam sensor and an air leak at the oil separator. After taking care of this about 90% of the issues were resolve but I still had a slight mis. They suggested I bring it to the shop and they would take a look at it. I did this and they put the diagnostics on it and found I had the oxy sensors connections swapped. They fixed this and ran a complete diagnostic. Now none of my issues were related to the work I asked them to do or was in their scope, yet they followed up with me and ran diagnostics to get me running right. They could have charged me for diagnostic time but they did not. It was all about making sure my car was right and I was happy. I would not hesitate to use them again and recommend them to my friends. Great Job!!!

These guys are amazing! I had to have my E46 towed in because I heard a really disgusting and scary noise from underneath the hood. I called them and they recommended checking with my insurance company and maybe they would help out with the tow costs. Winner! They did and the bill was on $60 to get it to them almost 30 miles away. Then once it got there they were ready to dissect what the problem was and let me know. I think they spent a lot more time on it than I know. They were really communicative and detailed (almost to a point of brain overload) about what was going on with the car. But I think that's beneficial so I didn't feel like I was being taken advantage of. Once the car was done they even did a complete visual once over of the car. They gave me a list of things that would need to be done and what's immediate. Talk about informative! I needed the overall walk around since this car was a gift. They've bee really understanding and I know that I'll ALWAYS take my car to them and refer any other BMW owner to go to them.

AND last but not least my wife got a good feeling from meeting them. You know the ladies are always good at discerning BS. Thanks MMW!

Had an issue right after I purchased a new (to me) '84 325e. Car drove home 25 miles but would not restart after I got home. I was kind of stuck as my "regular" BMW guy was in the mix of moving his shop & couldn't find the time to look at it for a week or so. I self diagnosed that the coil died but to my surprise (NOT) that was not the only thing wrong. When I found a local (Nathan) that had a good coil he also mentioned MMW that was in my town. After the coil didn't fix the problem I had it towed to MMW. Their staff checked what I had given them info wise & found that a magnetic pick-up had broken off my flywheel. A bit odd but it's 30 years old too.

I was updated & kept in the loop as to the time & cost of the repairs. The GM - Ian was informative, exact & stayed in my preconceived budget - thanks. The mechanix that worked on my car were informative and helpful. The owners that I meet - Rob & Dave were nothing but helpful.

I would/will not hesitate taking my other car (an E36) to them for work along with the E30 again.

"Thanks" to the crew @ MMW.

Hands down the best repair experience ever!

These guys are super enthusiastic and committed to putting you on the road again at a fair price. They just love to build cars (and race them!)!

I overheated near the BMW dealership in Gwinnett and took my car there for a quote. $1500 to replace a water heater hose and the thermostat--no water pump, no engine fan, etc. Ridiculous!

I did an internet search for private BMW repair shops in Lawrenceville and the rest is history. Our neighbor is also a BMW enthusiast, so just to make sure things checked out I asked him what shop he works with--of course Markert Motor Works! So that sealed the deal. (Thanks Ryan!)

I spoke to Ian over the phone and gave him the lowdown. He was able to do a whole coolant system overhaul for me around that price, replace my front bushings, set an alignment and offer priceless maintenance info (Thanks Rob!).

Not only did they go above and beyond with the work, they had parts ordered and my car ready to go in 24 hours, all the while preparing for their Memorial Day weekend trip to Mid-Ohio!

I will definitely bring the wagon back to Dave in the future. Thanks Everyone!

Where to start?! I've been going to these guys for about a year now. These guys are amazing. If you have a bmw it's worth the drive to Lawrenceville from anywhere to these guys. My 330i had a catastrophic failure, where my intake cam exploded and shot a pin into one of my cylinders. I was told by the dealer it would cost upwards of 6K. From the time I scheduled my appointment with Markert I was put at ease. They were in touch with me every step of the process. They sent several quotes and picture during the repair. Called to verified specific things, just an amazing team. My car runs like it's brand new thanks to these guys, they even called to make sure everything was well. They will be the only people to ever touch my car again!

I have been a customer for about two years now and have been very happy with the work performed. I have always worked on my own stuff but lacking a suitable place to work and not having a lot of the specialized tools made it difficult to do even the simplest of jobs.

My E34 540i6 needed a lot of suspension work (pretty much everything) and MMW took care of it and suggested a few upgrades I could do while everything was out of the car. The car handles great and I could not be happier.

They also worked on my E90 328i and did a great job fixing some evap issues I was having with that. They know the old stuff (which I prefer) as well as the latest and greatest.

    Thanks again

I highly recommend these guys. I bought a 330i from auction for my 16 year old daughter. Rob, Dave, and Ian did a comprehensive check of the car and gave me recommendations of what was an urgent fix and what was a recommend fix that could wait based on my budget. The car had the airbag light and several other indicator lights on. All of this was corrected. I now have confidence that my daughter is driving a safe car.

    Thanks guys!

I was referred to Dave's shop by a friend. I had Dave assist in an automatic transmission rebuild on my E38 750iL as well as diagnosing several more items. Everyone I met at the shop has a genuine passion for BMWs and extensive technical knowledge on even the more rarified models. They are extremely busy, so that has to be understood in lead time and communication. They were more interested in making sure I was taken care of than trying to sell me on unneeded, extra service. Some jobs will never be cheap (especially on a V12 car), but I feel that they were extremely fair on their rates and part prices. I live about 2 hours away from Dave's shop, but would not hesitate to go back if I needed his services again.

I have so much love for market motor works, especially rob eskew ! We took our 03 X5 for some work and from the beginning everything was handeld so professionally . Our transmission had given up on us , my wife's friend from church swore up and down that if we took our vehicle elsewhere we would not get the best attention given to our problem . She suggested we take our vehicle to Dave and rob at market motor works in lawrenceville ! I can truly say I am forever thankful to the guys for the excellent work the guys did to our vehicle " most people just say thank you and make their payment and that's it . I would like to advise that next person looking at these reviews and is on the fence about taking their vehicle to market motor works " these guys are the truth !!!!

    Their company mission:

"Our mission is to create and maintain an honest trustworthy relationship with our customers, ensuring that their needs are always met. We also strive to break the myth that BMW's are expensive to own and maintain by offering competitive pricing while maintaining the utmost quality of service."

...word by word...SPOT ON. And from my experience, it was probably more than above, for I learned a lot from just the couple of days I had been on their shop. Surely they have instilled confidence in me using my wife's X3.

I have had my car into Markert a couple of times and must say that they ALWAYS pursue excellence and place the customer's satisfaction (actually customer's delight) at the highest priority. One of the jobs was an install of a reverse camera. Due to some anomalies in my year, there was a significant amount of additional man-hours required to get it working properly. They spent hours troubleshooting and kept me updated regularly and got it working. They are very knowledgeable and very reasonable in their pricing. Thanks to Dave and Rob at Markert for their hard and talented work!!!!

A few weeks ago I started looking for a shop to do a clutch job on my E34 540i. As most of you guys probably are, I’m very OCD with my car and usually prefer doing things myself. But without access to a lift and proper tools I decided to get someone else to do it. I asked around and heard great things about Markert Motor Works so I decided to give them a call. Long story short, I chose Markert Motor Works, even though they weren’t the cheapest of the BMW-specialists I called. I could simply feel the passion for BMW through the phone and I could save some money by supplying the part myself; not a problem at all I was told.

It took most of the day to get the clutch fixed because the flywheel had to be resurfaced, we weren’t counting on that, but they only charged my an hour extra for taking the flywheel back and forth to the machine shop as well as taking the flywheel on and off.

I’m very happy with the work they’ve done and not to mention what they charged me. The guys know what they’re doing and take their time to do things right. That’s extremely important to me and that’s a place I would take my BMW any time. Money well spent and I now have a car with a perfect clutch feel and better gear changes than before.

These guys are like BMW mad scientists. Dave has encyclopedic knowledge of all things BMW-- this "range of years" is good because of this type of intake manifold, etc. This turbo is not as good as that turbo. This was a good year for this or that. It's amazing.

We did some standard maintenence on my 528, and he put a nice little "Tune" on the ECU to sqeeze out more HP. Same car, same engine but now faster! Now my 5 speed is crazy to drive. I reccomend to all my friends, and we have folks "converting to bmw brand lovers" as a result. People want a bmw but they are scared of the repair cost. With Markert Motor Works there is nothing to be afraid of -- a well maintained car will last forever and will end up beign a great value (case in point -- my BMW 528 has 214,000 miles on it, my Daughter's 1997 has 322,000. Loving the brand and loving MMW. 5 stars.

Dave and Rob took excellent care of my M5. After an attempted robbery by another shop, I found these guys. They replaced the VANOS seals and performed the VANOS rattle repair. They also replaced the solenoid "O" rings, repaired a power steering hose leak and changed the spark plugs.

Their prices were fair. They showed me the spark plugs they replaced and sent me pictures of the leaks before they fixed them. The repair took a little longer than we thought because of delays in shipping. They are very busy, but took the time to make sure my repair was perfect.

These are young smart guys. They love BMWs and I think they only work on BMWs. When they are not working on cars, they are racing them.

I would highly recommend this shop.

Wow, these guys are awesome. I have taken my car to Market Motor Works several times over the last few months and Dave has exceeded my expectations every time. Most recently my car had been going through a qt of oil every 500 miles and I was sure the motor was trashed. Turns out after diagnosing and replacing the ccv, no more oil consumption issues!! Their prices are unbeatable, and if its possible to save some money without compromising the work these guys will do so. I have never had a problem with communication, and in a couple of cases work was done while I waited! MMW is highly recommended, I will never take my car to another shop (or stealership). Some months ago, I took my 2000 M Roadster to MMW for a pre-purchase inspection. Dave instantly earned my trust by demonstrating his excellent knowledge of the car and a passion for his work. The inspection was far more thorough than I had expected, and at the end I was confident I knew exactly what I was buying.

My first service stop with the car was an equally great experience. MMW performed the service to a tee and even went above and beyond in troubleshooting one particular hard-to-diagnose issue. Dave explained the work that was done in detail and took plenty of time to share his recommendations and insight. All of this at a great price, too.

I will definitely continue to service my BMW with Markert Motor Works.

If I ever have any issues with my car Dave is the first person I contact and typically the last. Dave's work is excellent and he is affordable as well. Wow,where do I start? Ummm if you have a BMW and it needs work or upgrades,do yourself a favor and take it to MMW. You won't be disappointed.I have an e39 which I butchered a timing belt and head swap on and it was out of commission for 3 months because I was trying to fix myself. During that time I was going to Dave for advice and parts.needed a part one time and he was able to get it for me in a matter of a couple hours! After dealing with it and not coming close to fix it,I decided to take it to Dave. Best choice ever made.very thorough and good work and great rates! Even after the job is done he still guarantees it.he did a motor swap for me from the m20b27 to the m20b25 and I couldnt be happier. Its also a one man show so keep that in mind.but with that being said he works incredibly fast (IMO) and is extremely thorough.pretty sure he knows BMWs better than himself. Take them to MMW .you won't regret it.I'll be coming back for a loooooong time.

Dave is knowledgeable about BMW's. He is always quick to diagnose and repair your ride to get you back on the road. He strives to please his customers and backs up his work.

Never heard of Dave until I started buying my motor swap parts. First I was just buying parts from him and was just hanging out looking at what he does. A couple of visits later, I started seeing my friends getting their cars fixed at his shop.

Soon enough, me and my friend started doing the swap ourselves. As we butchered my little E30 and about a million trips back and forth to Daves shop for questions and more parts I decided to hand the job over to him. Needless to say I was nothing but satisfied. He walked me through all the stuff I broke and called me with updates and pictures and was very thorough on everything. My swap is nothing but amazing and Dave deserves a big hug. I will gladly come back again and give Dave all my money.

I recommend Dave to any BMW folks out there that loves their car. Dave runs a one man shop so don't be upset if he cant return your calls or if something takes longer than usual. Put yourself in his shoes. This man works all day. literally.

Dave has worked on my 1987 535iS a couple of times now. I had some control arms installed incorrectly by another mechanic, which was causing the car to handle poorly. He was able to correctly diagnose this issue and make my car feel solidly planted again. I like that Dave took the time and effort to take pictures of the other issues that my car had; also - it's a definite plus to have a social media savvy mechanic. I hope the local BMW community continues to find out about MMW and the quality work they perform at a fair price. I have no hesitation to recommend Dave and his shop.

Over the many years I've been with Dave's shop there has not been a single time I have ever felt in satisfied with his work. He is thorough, caring, and passionate about what he does and the customers he's worked with. Every time I have work done to my car I never worry about what has to be done, from an oil change to a motor swap, and I am always overly satisfied with the result. I will continue taking my car there, not only because of the price, but mainly to the fact that he loves his job and its reflected into his work. I would recommend him to anyone.

Since around mid-2009 Dave has worked on my car or helped me work on it and I have nothing but great things to say in regard to his work quality, his service, his prices, and his patience. When it comes to knowledge of BMWs and automotive in general, he knows more than anyone that I have ever met and whenever faced with an issue I call him first. Give him a chance the next time your vehicle needs a service or repair and you wont be let down. Thanks again Dave for all the work done over the past couple years. m52 swap is over 25k strong now and has given me not one bit of trouble.

I have been a customers of Dave's for over a year. We have had our ups and downs, but i still take my car to Dave because he actually knows me and knows what i drive, and he drives a similar e30. Dave takes interest in his customer vehicles and makes recommendations based on whats truly needed. Dave's shop is across town for me, but i happily take the drive to get my issues solved. Dave knows older model BMW's inside and out and fixes problems with ease. I would recommend Dave and have to friends and family.

My overall experiences with Dave have been very good. Taking into consideration the amount of work he always has in his shop, I don't complain about communication. He's under a car nearly most of the time making progress. I worked closely with Dave and with his work flow, you can't expect him to run his shop, fix cars, answer the phone, respond to emails, etc. all at once. That physically impossible. Either way, I enjoy working with Dave for his honesty, personality, and skills. I wouldn't trust any other shop to work in my car but him. I live in Auburn Alabama now and I still take my car to him.

I do not recommend them. Difficult to get in touch with and lies about the progression of the repair. My car was promised to be fixed within 2 - 3 days but after two weeks passed and the car wasn't fixed I tried to find out why. I was repeatedly lied to and finally traveled two hours to the shop to pick up my car. It hadn't been touched since i dropped it off.

    Matt,

As I mentioned when you picked the car up, your replacement torque converter was special ordered from Sach's and took over a week and a half to arrive. I apologize for the miscommunication about this. After you picked the car up we received the torque converter (600$) the next day and were unable to return it. We sat on it for 9 months before we were able to sell it. I again apologize you feel you were lied to. Thanks. -Dave
