  • I just had my car repaired by Gabor this morning. I am very satisfied with his work. This is the 2nd time I went to him, first was for replacing breaks and rotors. This time, my engine warning light was on in my 2010 BMW X5 with 100,000 miles. He was able to use his computer to diagnose the error code from the car, determine that a sensor was defective. He replaced the sensor while I stood there. 30 minutes later, I was on my way. Repair complete. I have no doubt the BMW dealer would have recommended replacing a ton of parts at an extremely high cost. Gabor gets 5 stars from me today.

  • Gabor's work was stellar. He even went out of his way to give me a few random clips/bolts etc which he had as extras at his own shop at no expense. His work, from what I can tell, is top notch. His price is not only fair, but his work ethic is good too because he came in 'under budget' on both his overall estimate and his time estimate. He also takes photos of parts/seals which need replacing before doing so to document their need, rather than just charging people for parts that 'trust us, they're necessary' (a response you hear from other mechanics regularly).

I recommend him to anyone and everyone. If you've had your Bimmer/German vehicle fixed somewhere else in the past, it's time to re-think your options.

  • Gabor is a wonderful mechanic. His expertise and his humor has kept my husband's car alive for over 330,000 miles, Mine is only 100,000 miles old. He is honest, willing to investigate and learn about unique problems and willing to pull the plug when the car has gone too long (he just did that with my husband's and is consulting on the purchase of a different one). I appreciate having this resource.

  • I had a issue with my BMW where a cylinder in the engine was misfiring, which had been an unknown cause until Gabor had looked into it. The issue had been with the car for a long time, as he had concluded that it had been worked on before, that the previous owner had never found the problem. He had gave me a very fair price on the cost, as the dealership would have charged me triple! One of the best mechanics i've met.

  • I received very high quality work at fraction of the price that I would have paid at the dealership. Gabor loves what he does and he has a reputation to keep up. Don't expect a coffee lounge like the dealership, but rather expect to experience an expert mechanic in a no frills shop. My beemer runs better than ever!!!

Gábor is the best. I trust him to give me the bottom line and address the issues that matter. It's the most comfortable I've been with a mechanic. Check him out.

Gabor at Das Mechanic has worked on my M5 2 times. Each time he showed a level of understanding about this rather complicated vehicle that was a pleasure to deal with. He is honest, dedicated to maintaining his good reputation and goes well beyond the "minimum" to take care of his customers. For people in the Madison area who are weary of being overcharged by the local BMW dealer Gabor is a blessing!

Highly recommend Gabor/Das Mechanic! The combination of him being extremely knowledgeable about his work, being honest and fair with his repair assessments, and having great communication skills was second to none.

I live in Southern California, my son goes to school in Madison and purchased a used vehicle in Chicago a couple of months back. We subsequently learned that the high-mileage BMW X-3 had some issues, and Gabor went out of his way to work with my son- including driving-out to where his broken-down vehicle was stranded, lending my son his winter coat (hey, we're from California!) while he was waiting for the tow company to come and transport the car to Das Mechanic, and after getting the vehicle to his shop, providing a loaner vehicle so that my son could get back to campus that evening for a class he was teaching. The BMW ended up requiring a good amount of work, and Gabor took the time to walk us thru all the issues and giving us his recommendations for addressing. I was completely comfortable with all of his assessments and repair recommendations.

Madison, WI- you're lucky to have someone like Gabor in your community! He knows what he's doing, and you won't go wrong by taking your European vehicle to him for repair. The key to having a good relationship with your European vehicle is finding a competent/honest independent mechanic...if you're in the Madison, WI area, Gabor is your guy.

Gabor at Das Mechanic just completed the repair of my daughter's X3. You can tell that not only does he know these vehicles inside and out, he really cares about the vehicles and the people that drive them. He performed the work efficiently and for a reasonable price. As a bonus, when my 19-year old daughter came to pick up her car, Gabor gave her a tutorial, instructing her on what the various warning lights mean and how to check the oil. Thanks, Gabor. It's nice to know that we have a mechanic we can trust in the Madison area!

My car started to leak coolant after adding coolant at BMW dealership. It was always overfilled whenever I visited there. I suspect they might have tried to damage my car.

So, I looked for trustworthy mechanic around my area. And, I found Das Mechanic by getting recommendation from Bimmerfest.

Gabor looked at my car and he found my radiator was broken and show me how it was leaking. I could see which part was broken and which part he will fix.

I was low in my budget, so I asked Gabor to let me bring my parts to lower the cost and he accepted it. So, I could fix my car with very economic price. Around $200 for Gabor and around $160 for parts. Amazing!

I would recommend this place to anybody who has European cars. Trustworthy!

My BMW 528 was having starter issues. Frustrating! It finally gave up the ghost in my garage. I left Gabor a message on his off day figuring he would call Monday. I received a call almost immediately. Although very busy, he worked me in. Towed car to him. Found a rodent had chewed thru some wires!! He is fair, super BMW knowledgeable, and a pleasure to talk to. If you want your Bimmer repaired right, call Gabor at Das Mechanic. He is first class.

Live near Sun Prairie and finding a convenient and trustworthy repair shop for my BMW was hard to find. After some internet searching, Das Mechanic came up. I contacted Gabor and he knew right away what I needed done and we scheduled appointment. For a backyard mechanic such as myself it is great to talk directly with the person doing the work and someone that explains very intelligently what was done, and how the advanced and complicated German engineering works and why. He took pictures of the parts before replaced and sent them to me which helps you feel more comfortable the repairs were required. The pricing was fair, no complaints. I will use Gabor again and would recommend his services. If you are looking for tiled floors, coffee and cookies, then pay the added cost and up sells at the dealer but if you want a shop that cares about each car and clients satisfaction and proves it. This is the shop for you.

    Thanks Gabor.

Gabor took my BMW in on tow after a radiator crack left me stranded. He worked me into his schedule and had my car back on the road on three days including part shipment. He uses genuine German parts and oil. My car has never ran better. I would recommend Gabor and Das Mechanic to the discriminating Bimmer owner wh wants someone they trust that doesn't want to pay exorbitant dealer retail.

Very knowledgeable and reliable mechanic. Very experienced with BMWs. He explains all details of the repair, shows you the parts he replaced and in my last visit, he even took videos of what the problem was, so he could show me after he had fixed it. He does not push for any unnecessary repairs. He has been a much better alternative than taking my car to the dealer, in terms of service, quality of the work and cost.

What can I say? He is good. He is doing exactly what he is saying. Not pushing you to do something absolutely unnecessary. Loaner car is a sweet deal. He will help you out as much as he can.

    Thank you
