Experience Matters

Did you ever think about how much experience and knowledge the technician has who is working on your car?

No business like the Automotive repair business is based on experience and continuous education. I have been in the Automotive repair business for over 30 years now and I feel like a car myself sometimes. I see young people come into this profession who do not know carburetors and ignition points anymore and rather forget the basics to hunt down computer problems that are not there. Let's face it: a car still has a combustion engine that works the same way it did when it was invented by Gottfried Daimler. Yes, the materials and designs improved and of course everything is computer controlled. That is why experience is a very important factor in repairing and servicing cars. There is plenty of people out there who open a business with little or no experience and think they are experts. I earned my experience and pass it on every day to my technicians who will one day have the same experience I do, but by then I will be not around anymore.

I am pleased with the service that I received from Alex's Autohaus, they kept me informed of what they were doing. I felt I could trust them unlike the dealer that make me feel overwhelmed.

Friendly staff and reasonable pricing. My experience was somewhat disappointing however. I needed my wheel bearing replaced and scheduled an appt describing the problem. The car was dropped off early in the AM for the service. After 2 pm, I called to see what was going on and they couldn't tell me. The job requires ~ 2hs to complete on a good day. By 3 pm I received a call and was told I needed a wheel bearing (which I knew), then I was told they didn't have the part in stock and their tool was broken. It was disappointing since I planned a week ahead with them for this repair and they were not prepared to fix my car. I had already diagnosed the problem for them just didn't have the wheel bearing tool. They were friendly but they didn't fix my car when I needed it fixed. I can't afford to try this shop again.

I am sorry Allan that we did not get you car done that day. I am not trying to make excuses but we could not get the wheel bearing that day even the dealer was out of stock. Your car has 4 wheel bearings and we first had to verify which one we need. Without a part we are not able to repair your car. We also supply a loaner car in cases like that to accommodate you as much as possible.
