Doug Hoffarth grew up in Northwest Arkansas and was always fascinated with machines. He took apart everything to see how it worked and to see if he could make it better - faster - stronger. When he got old enough to help out, his father would let me take apart some of the project cars we had around the house. As time went on he acquired (dragged home ) projects of his own.
At some point during his high school days he started drag racing, on a budget of course, but real racing. He built a Dragster, more or less from scratch, he bought a chassis and then changed everything. He graduated high school, got a job working for an electrical supply business, interesting but not what I wanted as a career.
Lucked into an apprentice position at a BMW Dealership in his hometown, he was mentored by the best BMW Tech he has ever known to this day. The dealer then changed ownership and things at the new place were not so great. On a whim he went looking for another BMW dealer to work for looked at several in Texas and Oklahoma, ended up interviewing in Memphis at Roadshow BMW, nice place but they didn't have an opening. So with the day shot, he decided to drive on to Nashville, got an offer that day, started two weeks later at Superior Motors in 1993.
"My first real exposure to "city life" and Volkswagen, I remember doing Pre Delivery inspections on Brand new VR6 Corrados E30 M3's, E28 M5's so really I started with BMW in the European car business. Really got into VW though, so many swap options, and more affordable at that time in my life."
Doug worked for Superior for a few years and then got an itch to move west, so out to Arizona for a few years at a great independent shop. Then got the itch to come back to the green hills and mountains.
Doug has worked on about every European make there is. "Somehow the German cars make sense to me, each having its own personality, temperament, attitude sometimes. But I've found if you respect the machine, it will respect and take care of you."
Doug has been working on European (German ) imports for over 25 years, and still loves it.
"I learn at least one new thing every day, even when I don't want to. I will never know enough, but am always trying to learn more, to improve myself and the overall level of the collective in our shop."

Customer 1st-Willing to make suggestions/provide alternatives.
Suggestions: Do give them ample time to work on your car, this isn't a 30 minute oil change place, they take time with each customer to educate and explain how things work. The only thing missing from their waiting room is a massage chair, plenty of refreshments too. If you dread taking your car in because of a hefty bill let GPO guide you through the options, what is needed now, what can wait and so on.
I first came to GPO in 2012 when my car was acting up terribly. I am 800 miles from family and I had no idea who to go to with my car troubles after having issues with chain mechanics in town. I looked on a VW forum and GPO was listed as a top mechanic for my Beetle. They have helped me with so many car problems from simple oil changes to helping me find a collision repair after my car was hit last fall. I trust GPO with my car and have complete faith in their hard work.

Excellent Service!!! Today was my first experience at GPO. I’m a car enthusiast. I’m a driver. Porsche Macan Turbo is my daily ride. GPO was able to squeeze me in for a last minute oil change today - this is unheard of (unless you own a Honda and go to… Jiffy Lube).
Cannot recommend this shop enough. They are fair and provide you with options, costs, and timelines for service needs. If there is an issue that occurs post-service, they look into it and correct it. An example of this is when I got the battery system for my BMW replaced, but after the service I still had an indicator for the battery. They diagnosed, checked, and corrected it in no time. Since the issue was a faulty replacement battery, they got a new one in for free. I have continued taking both vehicles here ever since.
I had an unexpected cross country drive with a hard deadline to leave. They squeezed me in, assessed all that needed to be done, gave me a price, and got the work done. This is the second time they've worked on my car. They are great.
Had a DSG service performed on my 2014 VW CC. They did a fantastic job, were quick, and the customer service was great. Highly reccomend!
